Geographical Location
Tropical rainforests cover about 6 percent of the earth's surface. They are located in a band around the equator, mostly in the area between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer.
The Amazon Basin forest is the largest tropical rainforest, covering 6 million square kilometers. Other tropical rainforests are located in Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and West Africa.
